The update on the page should happen in a week. My point of view regarding this topic can be found here: http://gis.stackexchange.com/a/188243/9839 While this may not reflect the official position of the project (if there's any) and while the current windows release names may more be a side-effect of release scripts than a conscious decision I pretty much like the added maintenance time (cooldown period).
