Hi Jochem,
the issue is due to the same root cause of the issue about Qt Designer
you previously reported.
In fact, you will find the report of v.external.exe and v.out.ogr.exe crash
related to MSVCP140.dll in the Windows tool "Event Viewer" -> "Windows
Logs" -> "Application".
You should be able to fix both the issues on your system just updating
the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable to the latest version provided
by Microsoft Windows.

However, I get an error message when using the same GRASS data or
shaepfile data using the same GRASS tool from the processing toolbar,
