Mmh, regarding folders vs. tags, I think GMail does a good case of
using the latter and, if necessary,  generate folders as smart queries
over tags. My suggestion would be to use tags instead, as that would
make the system much more flexible and still include the possibility
to have "folders" as smart groups.
