One thing that I have been thinking about in retrospect of Maven
issues I have these days...

Why is "Release Management" part of Maven? Shouldn't that be a
separate system that is given a SCM tag and creates a release out of
that? BUT, if that is the case, then such system would need to modify
the POMs (versions), which means that the Tag is no longer exactly
what was marked for release, which cries of a immense design flaw in
Maven, that the version is written in the POM. Which is probably a
sign that Maven has no clue what Assembly, Configuration and "Build
arguments" are all about. The more I think about it, the more I want
to throw up.
