18 GB is really big. You could use the 'nocheck' option in
/etc/fstabs but it is better to have the partition size
smaller in this case.

Kaffe might work in Linux but Java always means some hassle in my experience.
There are other nice cdrecord frontends using gtk or gnome  - I hope to
have a beta release of the new distribution done around Xmas. It will be
much easier to compile bleeding edge software then.

it will be pretty much work in SMSQ/E, plenty of graphical libs that
need adapting. Iirc the virtual machine may also need some hacking
on m68k, I am not even sure this works for linux-m68k.
