because it can take SMSQ as long as 2 minutes to load 1 MB of data
from a fast HD. The same HD that does 800K-3MB/s on the same machine
under Linux.

The other problem is very poor multitasking. Read/Write to most
devices simply locks the whole machine untill the request completes,
it doesn't even use the time the drives need to seek data. You have
no chance to continuosly read sound/video data from disk and play
it at the same time even if the hardware is perfectly cappable of it.
