I am now writing my third news section for QL Today, and have discovered there are only a handful of people who send their news items to the magazine. At one stage I thought I would have to make up the news for the last issue: "Bill Gates ate my hamster" (Sorry an in-joke few will understand) In practice most of QL Today news is gleaned from this list, but I also have to do a little spying at shows etc. Given that many discussions on this list are rambling and off topic or the topic changes it can be quite difficult to decide what is relevant and what not. I wonder how well Quanta can learn to sniff out the important news. I stopped sending Just Words! news to Quanta some time ago because it just did not get printed. I also never send review copies of programs to Quanta. Of my last four new products Quanta has produced a review of only one. And that was an initiative from someone who had bought it at a show. I don't waste my time on unproductive work, Best Wishes Geoff PS If any one is wondering if the above is personal or official, it is neither. I resigned from all my Quanta duties a fortnight ago. _______________________________________________ QL-Users Mailing List http://www.q-v-d.demon.co.uk/smsqe.htm
