Hmmm, big mistake, perhaps I should of left it alone, did as you said.

Format appeared to work as did the restore of backed up 
objects to rom1_ BUT when i reboot, it booted off WIN1_ not ROM1_ ( odd
!)

dir rom1_ gave lots of grey squares (# in example) i.e.

############# * ->
############# * ->
############# * ->

etc.

Performing further FORMAT ROM1_full locks up Aurora and after
subsequent
reboots DIR rom1_ gives Medium Check Failed. EX win1_progs_ROMD214_EXE
gives TF Services RomDisq v2.14 (c)1997 TT message but sadly no joy
with 
dir rom1_ etc.

Any ideas gratefully received.
