I'm sure I could have worked it out. I was quite > bemused as to what justification there might be for it. The justification is that it is nigh impossible for those who have not grown up with the QL to find out about the software houses which used to support it, and what software is available (either new or second hand). It all started with a discussion on World of Spectrum as to why someone might want to but a QL and although I could provide some general knowledge, when they asked what software and hardware had been produced and were there screenshots and photos etc, I was stuck. Yes there is screenshots of my own software which I still sell, but very little information on the other software except where it is public domain (in which case there is normally just a filename and basic details on what it does). For example, it is not easy to find details of what Laurence Reeves has produced for the QL over the years!! > I'd ask questions like where is it hosted, is it archived, backed up, > etc. At the moment, it is hosted on my own server, which does archive the changes as part of the SQL database routines. Your changes would still be present in archival > form, I believe. That's how they recover when silly people attack. The trouble is that people see things like QDOS in the wiki as solely PC related and I think that they then delete the Sinclair reference - I have added a paragraph on QDOS several times, but it keeps getting deleted, so I gave up. In my opinion, it makes more sense to have one QL resource really - similar to the Spectrum database on software, books and hardware at World of Spectrum. However, if people have other views, then please let's air them and come to a decision on the best way forward. > (Signed: A Wikipediophiliac/Wikipedaholic) > (Hey, I like the first one... exactly two letters per syllable.) -- Rich Mellor RWAP Services URL:http://www.rwapsoftware.co.uk URL:http://www.rwapservices.co.uk _______________________________________________ QL-Users Mailing List http://www.q-v-d.demon.co.uk/smsqe.htm
