Over the years I have used several printers with my QLs, starting with the one
that used thermal paper and I think was 'bundled' with my first QL from Dixons
in Newcastle for £149. There was a wide carriage daisy wheel, a Star LC24-10
(?) and a few others. For more than 15 years an Epson LQ1000 worked perfectly
until the underscore pin gave up the ghost. A new print head would cost about
80 quid so was out of the question. I picked up an Epson LQ100 which has given
very good service and I recently bought from QUANTA a Panasonic KX-P1624 which
I wanted to use for printing big spreadsheets - I have A3 paper. Unfortunately
the printer drivers I made for the LQ1000 which also work with the LQ100 don't
work with the Panasonic.
I remember that it was quite an exercise constructing a printer driver, getting
the flp1 and2, or ram1 and 2 to pretend to be microdrives, finding the right
install_bas and install_dat and remembering to save the finished driver, and
back in the day I did all this many times. This simple pedestrian procedure now
looks a bit daunting but if I have to I shall learn it all again, though being
a bit long in the tooth it won' be easy. I am hoping that someone out there has
used this model and has made and kept the driver. If anyone has, and could send
me such a driver I should be most grateful.
