Is there a way of connecting more than two hard disks (eg, two hard
disks and a CD ROM) to a QL using QubIDE?
I have only ever seen two drives on the same IDE cable....

I vaguely remember Ron Dunnett or Nasta talk of a Qubide expander of
some sort (which never appeared), though I can't remember any details.
What is possible is to use a large hard drive and divide it into
partitions, effectively more than 2 virtual drives.
Yes. Nasta designed one years ago and I think I tested it.
I don't think it ever went into production.

He must have made more than one as I have one with instructions. It's
not currently in use but I do recall using it or trying to, I can't
remember how it went. The instruction page with it is from Qubbesoft.
I think I bought it at one of the US shows.
It is a small board that plugs in to Qubide in place of the IDE cable
and it has it's own cable with 4 connectors on it. Instructions say to
set all drives as master. The board contains a small IC and some
diodes. The ribbon cable to the connectors has been partially cut and
has twists before going on to the next connector, similar to the way PC
floppy cables are to set the drive as A or B.
I remember now - I did test it. It didn't work reliably, and I gave it
back to Nasta.
Even he commented that he hadn't got it to work reliably, but maybe mine
was an early try.
I can't really see the point. Even *only* a 6GB drive gives masses of
maximum sized QL partitions.
My backup drive on QBBS has about 20, and has been working faultlessly
as a rotating backup since the 90s. The drive even has dodgy areas, but
I have partitioned it to avoid these. QBBS has now been running on
various machines and BBS software since 1988. Unfortunately my speed
starts at 4800. The stupid modem *can* do 2400 (v22bis) or less, and
4800 and above, but not together (8-(#
