Hi Everyone,
Firstly, thank you to those readers of QUANTA Magazine who have said how
much they have enjoyed the latest issues. I still have much to learn about
the editing side of the publication but I am very pleased to hear that I am
moving in the right direction. Your comments are important to us if we are
to provide quality services from QUANTA. Please keep them coming.
Secondly, I am concerned about the damaged envelopes which some of you are
getting. In order to minimise costs, I buy these envelopes in bulk, and it
takes about 7 issues to use the quantity. It may be that the self sealing
adhesive dries out during this period as I have noticed that occasionally I
get one which will not seal at all - I use additional sellotape in these
circumstances. I shall watch for this problem and maybe have to use
sellotape on ALL of them just to make sure. The flap may become stuck in the
Post Office machinery which could be causing the damage although some have
commented that the envelope is slit open across the sealed flap (and not
that the flap is missing altogether.) Please keep me informed of this
problem over the next few issues - whether yours is damaged OR NOT (to get
some idea of balance) - it may be worth asking the PO to investigate.
Rest assured that each envelope leaves here in good condition and the
labelling has recently been changed to enable better printing on the Desk
Jet rather than the old Dot Matrix which is coming towards the end of its
useful life - don't we all!?!?
Cheers,
John Gilpin.
Joint QUANTA Editor.

Hi Malcolm,
I received the Friday 27th February 2009 the Quanta magazine Volume 26,
Issue 1, for February / March 2009.
I received it as well.
Yes, well done - and I prefer to see the ads in "full page mode" again -
excellent decision. And up-to-date :-)
One other point. Is anyone else experiencing a poor quality with the
brown envelope used for the posting of the magazine.
Yes, for quite a while already.
My Issue, once again has arrived in a very crumpled envelope, with an
open slit along the entire top edge ( although the magazine was still
inside ). Is this only effecting the London area in the UK ? As another
London Group member has had a similar experience with the envelope
packaging being used, arriving in crumpled state.
This is how nearly all issues arrive for a while.
Jochen
