Crikey, it's amazing the QL ever worked at all! Mine did though (but I never tried the network and only used a serial port for the bundled thermal printer I got with it from Dixons). It had JM ROMs and, if I remember correctly because I no longer have it, was a build D13 (though someone will probably tell me D13s didn't ship with JM ROMs :o) so I guess I missed out on the more important fixes - not that I noticed. I can't wait for the next episode in the saga. I wonder if the BBC4 TV programme this Thursday about Sir Clive and Chris Curry will mention the QL...

P.S. The 'new look' magazine is fine; even if a bit thinner it has not lost any of its quality. The font is still pretty large compared with some magazines. I wonder if other European post offices have started charging by size as well as weight like Royal Mail. If so, a thicker A5 format might work out cheaper to post than A4 for the same weight.

Ian.

I just have received Vol14 Issue 1 of QL-Today. Oh dear, I have eaten the 11 pages of Tony's first article in a rush...just to find out that I want more.

Thank's a lot, Tony, for clarifying a lot of QL-myths from the past and to give us a bit of history repeating. There was so much secretiveness about a lot of things with the QL. I am glad you light the fog a bit.

And....especially now, as I have tried to get in touch with a few old hard- and software people round the QL-scene, just to find out, that a lot have very few memories about the things they have done....it is interesting to read that all. Still someone, who reminds about things happening 25 years ago.

Cheers...Ralf
