Wasn't there a kind of filter with QSpread for importing Abacus, then export the file...?

Om similar lines the quickest way of exporting quill_doc files, provided no character conversions are necessary, is to load them into Text87 and export from there. Text87 has the best export routines of all the QL wordprocessors and generates text that can be easily reformatted in PC wordprocessors.

Sorry about the Abacus problems. I had struggled with similar problems many. many years ago when I transferred a huge number of databases for an ex-QLer. The Abacus export routines are quite tricky to use and I had to experiment for some time to find the correct settings. Since then I have used it to transfer many of my own spreadsheets without difficulty, but then I import into Lotus programs.

Also good luck with discovering the formatting of Excel files. I tried it with Word many years ago and just gave up. I also have the complete Microsoft guide to generating .rtf and it is about 80 pages long. Still mustn't be too rude about Microsoft. No QLer has yet managed to unravel the mysteries of the the formatting of Text87,

Best Wishes,

Geoff
