One also has to allow for network prefixes, so the actual maximum length has to be three less. ..... more if one has more than nine (or is it 10) networked QLs!
Is there such a thing as n0?
Network station numbers are 0 to 63, with station 0 being the "broadcast" protocol, whereby any station listening at the time can load from it.

Probably useful in classrooms where a teacher could, by telling pupils to "load now from station 0", sending to all classroom stations at the same time. IIRC no QL can actually be station 0, you can only send to it or receive from it, not set yourself to be station 0.

Another little known feature of network station numbering is that if you are using a "fileserver" the Toolkit 2 manual recommends that they are on low station numbers, from 1 to 8. Don't know why!

The network always was an under-used feature of both QL and Toolkit 2. References to the network are scattered throughout the Gold Card/Toolkit 2 manual, for example.

There's a handy little article about the network on my website at http://www.dilwyn.me.uk/docs/articles/index.html
