I use an old Fujitsu DL1150 dot matrix printer which does me fine, and will still work with Vista. It has been difficult to get ribbons; there is a lot of old, dried out stock around. I've found www.cartridgesave.co.uk, a small company locally in Stockport with ribbons, with fair prices including delivery so no shocks at the checkout. My particular model is "110 chrs" that is it takes A4 landscape and so will print portrait on A3. I find that this gives me useful extra space for spreadsheets: I used to do an A5 magazine on the QL too, paired pages together. Unfortunately Vista won't always recognise this and then insists on turning it round!

Hi Bryan,

There are 'recharge' kits available, for dot matrix ribbons.

A 'quick and dirty' method is to use "Ink Pad ink", which is more readily available - 'quick' part. You then need to apply it inside the ribbon container.

The latter is the 'dirty' part ... as it can get messy ..... :-(

Of course, it helps to have more than one ribbon cartridge, so that the better one is reserved for when the best quality is required.
