I seem to remember reading somewhere that the QL emulators (or QDOS in
general) cannot use screeens smaller than 512x256. Presumably, despite
the remarkable technology of wristwatch type devices, they cannot
manage 512x256 screen resolutions, unless they use 'virtual screens'
where portions of the screen can be panned/scrolled into view as
required? If this was the case, can uQLx cope with such a display?
Our daily newspapers in Britain today have been carryinbg pictures of
an airport lady "wearing" a radio linked body computer, which has a
keyboard on her arm, a belt carried battery pack and a sci-fi style
small screen on a headset style arm in front of one eye set up to look
at close range like a 15 inch display they claim. Now, if uQLx could
go on one of those we could have a truly portable QL! (seems that the
reason they use these things is that they have run out of check-in
desk space at airports like Heathrow so this is being touted as a
mobile solution - customer reps will wander through the queues to find
late customersa and move them to another check-in or to the front of
the queue, answer questions etc and have the facts at their disposal
in a mobile fashion!)
Not quite sure of such devices gaining wide acceptance, but it's a
brave experiment certainly.
