Probably because Windows comes with all sorts of standard drivers so that many things work out of the box. So the problem is not that Ghostscript is particularly slow, but the rendering process is just a very demanding one. But after all, nothing changes for those users (still on the chase for suitable printers) but users of more powerful platforms have one problem less. Marcel
