If the GUI is an application, you can choose to use the GUI, or if you
prefer command line either don't start it at all or quit from it if
you don't know how to remove it from the boot file.

This is the approach I've taken with a program I'm involved with
rather slowly at the moment. LAUNCHPAD is a graphical program
launcher, but since it can launch things like QPAC2 menus and just
about anything FIleInfo can launch, for example, it's probably a bit
more than just a program launcher. I have a more-or-less working but
very bugged version running (shown at recent Quanta workshop in
Portslade) and when it's good enough a preview will be on my website.
Not a competitor to QDT in the slightest, but a simple graphical front
end for people who'd rather not get their hands dirty with the command
line where possible! LAUNCHPAD will not make programs look any
prettier, it just tries to manage what we have a bit better rather
than improve the OS.
