As far as I know, a GUI is always an application that send command line to the OS and gives a different (distorted ccordind to TT) view of the OS For instance, if you move a file with the mouse at the OS level you send a COPY TO then a DELETE That's why, usually, there is far more command and options available than what the GUI can do Even under Windows
