Norman, I am afraid that the problem lies with the ZIP disk, not Windows (amazing isn't it?). I had in the past experienced similar problems and usually it's a sure sign that the Zip is failing. To identify if that is the case, try to listen for any abnormal noise (clicks or little "bangs") while the disk is being read. If you hear anything, better throw away that disk :-(. Norton Disk Doctor was able to recover the files from the disk but the disk had to be thrown away. (BTW: I think that Zip disks carry a 5 year replacement warranty) Phoebus
