It seems like the old story - It used to work, then I changed something and now it doesn't ! I'm appealing to the collective wisdom of the group for a clue, at least, as to what I've done wrong
First, the original hardware: QL motherboard, SGC 2.49, Minerva 1.97, Super Hermes, Di-Ren interface, USR external modem, bus mouse (2 button), 2 425 MB HD's, 2 ED &1 HD 3.5 floppies, 1 DD 5,25 floppy, Oh, and Quplane. The above operated under (still does) SMSQ/E 2.91 and Qubide 1.37. With that setup, everything went smoothly. Using QTPI, I logged on both John's and Jochen's QBox sites, even did a bit of Internetting with assistance from Lynx and Pine. The BEEP command dutifully beeped; the Reset button did a proper reset; the mouse (and the mouse pointer) did its thing; all was right with the world. Then I succumbed to the lust for the latest: I got an Aurora. The QL motherboard was duly replaced with the Aurora mounted on Roy's "Braquet" (sp?) and things haven't been the same since. (All other hardware is unchanged) BEEP no longer works; a minor point perhaps, but annoying. Reset brings up the Minerva screen with a date of 2050 Aug 18 around midnight ! Then a blue screen appears briefly, followed by the old 3 part screen (white, red, black) with a blinking (but totally unresponsive !) cursor. At this point the only recourse is to shut down. On a "normal" (or as normal as it gets) startup, the Minerva screen now shows the current date (It varies; I've had dates as late as 2059 !). But the final date on screen is 15 March 02, around midnight ! Because my clock loses time, I have a correction routine in the boot file. Since the correction is always positive, the final date can never be earlier than the initial figure. Clearly, something is awry. Any thoughts on what I may have done wrong ? Plugged something in backwards ? Or in the wrong place ? Or ??? I plan on bringing the machine to the QL Show this coming weekend. I'd appreciate any assistance before, during, or after ! Mel
