Jochen,
I'm sure the problem is quite simple to fix, it's just difficult to track down. Your system works fine, Per's and mine don't want to play. I presume you have accesss to Qmake's source code ? If so, what exactly does it do to determine that a file with asm extension is more recent than the file with the rel extension when the rel file doesn't exist ? I suspect that maybe, just maybe, the problem lies in this area or one similar. But again, this is pure guess work. One thing I have found, there is a link file created on RAM8 called (in this case) test_0907_link which is full of 'unprintable' characters rather than text - could this be part of the problem. (If I 'inhibit assembly' the liker file then changes to the 'inputs' from my own original test_link file.) I've manaully created the two rel files for Per's test and when this has been done, there is no problem using qmake to run the linker - and a output file is produced. However, if I update one of the source files, we start the whole 'missing file' process again. In addition, I mistakenly HIT on the CONCATENATE loose item, but cancelled out of the file_select screen. The program then hung with a no-entry pointer. I can reproduce this problem at will. If possible, I'd also like to be able to configure off the 'beep on error' noise because I'm getting some wierd looks from my office colleagues at the moment :o) Cheers, Norman. ------------------------------------- Norman Dunbar Database/Unix administrator Lynx Financial Systems Ltd. mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Tel: 0113 289 6265 Fax: 0113 289 3146 URL: http://www.Lynx-FS.com ------------------------------------- -----Original Message----- From: Jochen Merz [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Monday, August 19, 2002 11:22 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [ql-users] qmake, the source and my inferior brain .... It's all very mysterious. It is indeed. I would be very much interested in where the problem lies, but I have no guess WHERE to look for. > PS, Could it be that because Per and I are not Germans, somehow the software > has detected this fact and won't work for us :o) Er - no, there is no detection like this :-) Cheers Jochen This email is intended only for the use of the addressees named above and may be confidential or legally privileged.
