I'll give that a try. I'll use the spare disk and mkpart_exe to create a single SMSQ partition on it first. I assumed FORMAT would not work without a recognized Qubide partition - that's why I didn't try it before. I think the problem is that SMSQ/E on the Q40/Q60 will have formatted the first partition of the hard disk as an Atari format hard drive.
