Hi Phoebus, I think English has so many different sources, French, German, Nordic, etc because there was a time when England was simply invaded by any old group of Continentals who had a spare weekend and were bored. Angles, Saxons, Gauls ?, Romans, Vikings, Danes etc etc - no wonder the language is so hard to learn.
(I'll probably get shot for that !) Cheers, Norman. ------------------------------------- Norman Dunbar Database/Unix administrator Lynx Financial Systems Ltd. mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Tel: 0113 289 6265 Fax: 0113 289 3146 URL: http://www.Lynx-FS.com ------------------------------------- -----Original Message----- From: Phoebus Dokos [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Thursday, November 21, 2002 2:02 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: RE: [ql-users] WMAN progress Considering yours is a mostly Germanic language which uses a wealthy supply of French words (thanks to Norman....ds;-) (Among others), that seems almost as odd as Greeks thinking that the world owes them ...
