I believe the format on the QL with 5 1/4" drives is always 80 track. Which is the equivalent of a 720K floppy. So the switch position will matter when actually loading the saved file ... a directory will show with either 40 or 80 track selected. Which is often confusing. Of course, when saving a file 80 track must be selected. I have always found 5 1/4" disks very reliable. At one time they were so very cheap, compared to 3 1/2", that it was well worthwhile using them. -- Malcolm Cadman
