Very strange. I've looked closely, and I haven't found any trace of an m.gz file.
I sorta take it all back - a .gz has appeared.
I've had this before with my Mozilla. I'm not certain exactly what the sequence of events is, but eventually is starts to default to putting an extra extension onto downloads - last time it was .ppt and that confused me quite a bit before I sorted it out.
I'm fairly sure the cure in Mozilla was to Edit / Preferences / Navigator / Helper Applications, which turn out to seem to be more like "Hinderer Applications"!
In there I've acquired an "application/x-zip" entry with extension "gz" and auto open with WinZip, plus an "application/zip" with a BLANK extension and auto save to disk. Somehow, between the two they manage to default to saving "inc.tgz" to disk as "inc.tgz.gz". Don't ask me why!
I'll just remove both "Helpers".
