I have not tried these two computers but I do use Sernet from time to time.
There were several articles about Sernet (including one about Q40) on page 31 of Volume 1 Issue 5 of QL Today, in case you find something to help you in there. I have v2.25 of sernet happily running on QPC between my desktop PC and my wife's laptop, and I'm sure I've had it running between Aurora and QPC in the past, but I've just tried it now and I get the same result as you between Aurora and QPC. I will be listening (reading?) carefully for a solution to this to see if I can get it running again between my Aurora and QPC.
