I found out the hard way some of the things that can go wrong if a job does something like this, if you know how to do it, even Launchpad can crash itself by doing this, never mind what it can do to other jobs or even to the OS itself with the problems caused by some programs' inability to cope with the situation. I'm glad I was persuaded to alter the way Launchpad behaves, it makes it that much more flexible even though it was a bit more of a chore to make it adapt itself to whatever it found itself running in.
