Hi all, hope you had a good break! (As did I ;)

Now to business: I want to update a couple of my PE programs to the new wman
standard. The first obstacle I encountered was sprites/icons. What a bummer
to have to design those bloomin things - as if writing programs wasnt
enough!

Thanks to Wolfgang, Marcel, Jerome and probably others, we at least
have some tools to create and convert them. Thats a good start!

I dont particularly want to nick sprites from Windoze as Id prefer to keep
the QL-side as unpolluted as possible, so I suppose I'll have to do my own.
Id like to take this opportunity to apologise for what they might look like
in advance!

If, however, anyone was twiddling his thumbs wondering how to become a
QL saint, he could do worse than design a PD sprite/icon collection...

Finally, I think it would be a great idea if some more standard sprites
could be included with the system. At present the system sprites consist of:

        0 = default pointer
        1 = padlock
        2 = mode 4(?)
        3 = mode 8
        4 = K - keyboard
        5 = No entry/busy
        6 = move selected
        7 = resize selected
        8 = move
        9 = resize
       10 = sleep
       11 = wake
       12 = F1 ...
       23 = F12
       24 = CF1 ...
       35 = CF12
       36 = cursor block?
       37 = ?

How about the following additional standard system sprites:

wake icon, help icon, quit/close window icon, escape/back icon, precision
pointer (cross), resize right/left pointer(s), resize up/down pointer(s),
resize diagonal forward pointer, resize diagonal backward pointer, move
pointer (arrows pointing NESW), hand pointer (or link select), standard
block cursor (animated) pointer, text select pointer, help pointer...?

The current scheme allows for up to 256 system sprites in each display mode,
so perhaps the sprites could be provided in two different sizes, large and
small. Alternatively, two different schemes could be provided, eg normal and
hi-contrast...

Just a thought...
