Technically it would be possible to implement some access for protected maps, but: - - You would need a lot of lawyers to protected yourself - - Usage would be illegal in many countries (and for sure it would be legally different in each single country) It's always the same, buy some non-open stuff and the vendor will always have ways to make your life hard... Buy a iPhone and you can also not install what you wish on it, only what apples thinks makes sense (for apple of course, not for you). That's why no flashplayer exists for the iPhone for example... I also own protected maps and I used mapsource under XP/Vista to install them on the device. (Since the memory card is large enough I could install the whole map on the device) For daily usage I use QLandkarte (Tracks, Waypoints etc.) with the openstreetmap map. Depending on the area you live the voverage of OSM can be very good (sometimes even better than on puchased maps) or not existent.... :( André -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.10-svn4864 (MingW32) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iEYEARECAAYFAkkhKWwACgkQQmPjtp6C4TG8DQCfewqvsZYR8d/qm9ZakDY9gFlw geYAnRLNC60aQSZyS7prOaycRzSkeElQ =/hOs -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by the Moblin Your Move Developer's challenge Build the coolest Linux based applications with Moblin SDK & win great prizes Grand prize is a trip for two to an Open Source event anywhere in the world http://moblin-contest.org/redirect.php?banner_id=100&url=/ _______________________________________________ QLandkarte-users mailing list [email protected] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/qlandkarte-users
