The linux command-line version seems to work well to extract the .tdb
details from the .img file, so I am now able to use QLandkarteGT
again :-)

Yeah.  I think that might work if you have the original source files
somewhere.  It's not clear to me that it can extract the .tdb from an
existing .img file.

The command-line one is working just fine for me. It says it was
statically linked so it works for me on Debian Unstable even though it
was built on Centos 5.

Fair enough - it was just not knowing about them.  I'd never come across
gmaptools before.
