Hi, Marc Feld has spent some time to speedup the ---OSM--- tile map client. As a side product of this nice clean up, other URLs for the tile server do work now. E.g. Google:
http://khm0.google.es/kh/v=88&x=%2&s=&y=%3&z=%1&s= It's much nicer and faster than using GDAL with the XML file. And as it is so much fun, I decided to push out the feature with a new release. Of course there are other new features, too. Users of newer Garmin devices that support the mass storage mode, can exchange data via the up- and download button now. Not that loading and saving GPX files was much of a problem in the past. However if the waypoint contains a picture, the process gets a bit more complex. And this complexity is hidden by the Garmin Mass Storage driver. But why would you want to link a waypoint with a picture anyway. Well think about a proximity waypoint with a small iconic direction arrow attached. If you come close to the waypoint it would be nice to see the picture. By that you can plan very individual routes along a track together with instructions. Sounds great, however in reality you can't use it with a Garmin device. The proximity alarm screen of the devices is of no real use. But why doing it anyway? Well, the hope is to talk Garmin into a usable proximity alarm screen. And as this feature is part of other GPS solutions like OziExplorer I hope someone writes a small driver for exchange. Yeah I know: keep on dreaming.... For the small fries see the changelog below.
