Hm, ok. I start to understand your intention. You say that switching the menu should terminate the line drawing the same way the right mouse button is doing. The original idea was to pause the drawing on ESC, to move the map and to get back to it afterwards. However I am not sure if that worked on recent versions. And it is obsolete as the map moves if you get close to the borders.
