Hi Peter, > > I installed QLandKarte GT (may I call it QLK?) on my computer
over the years users tend to call it QLGT, but QLK is ok for me, too ;) > > The QLK's "quickstart" page at Sourceforge says that to see a map on my > screen: > > 1. Select Map(F1) at the top of the toolview to activate the maps tab below. > 2. Double click "--- OSM ---" in the maps list The wiki is a bit outdated. The map list has been split into three parts. As Helmut mentioned the default OSM online map is in the tab "Stream". If you happen to have maps of a raster format and you embed these maps via a *qmap file in QLGT they will show up in the tab "Raster". And if you load a Garmin vector map it will be listed in the tab "Vector". > "openfietsmap_lite_tiles.zip (Compressed file that contains the tiles > and overview map. This is useful for applications like Qlandkarte and > Linux users.)" Unzip the archive and select the file with the *tdb extension. Next you will be asked for a basemap. The naming convention varies. It's one of the *img files. Usually it has the same name as the *tdb file. Sometimes it's the *img file with the lowest or oddest number. Sometimes the boundaries of the map are a bit peculiar. Use the F3 key to center the map and the +/- key to zoom. Many OSM based maps have nothing on the basemap than the boundaries of the single *img files. In that case you will see just a few rectangles. Zoom into the map to see details.
