Hi,

I have problems to connect my Garmin etrex 20 device to Qlandkarte GT 1.7 under Ubuntu.

When I connect the device via USB cable to my computer, it is recognized by the OS and automatically mounted so that I can access both the internal memory of the device and also the externed SD card.

#mount
/dev/sdc on /media/user/GARMIN type vfat (rw,nosuid,nodev,uid=1000,gid=1000,shortname=mixed,dmask=0077,utf8=1,showexec,flush,uhelper=udisks2)
/dev/sdd1 on /media/user/2618-7A2A type vfat (rw,nosuid,nodev,uid=1000,gid=1000,shortname=mixed,dmask=0077,utf8=1,showexec,flush,uhelper=udisks2)

(sdc is the internal memory, sdd1 the SD card)

I have also added an undev rule to set right permissions, for example:
#ll /dev/sdc
brw-rw-rw- 1 root user 8, 32 Jan  4 13:22 /dev/sdc

Also module "garmin_gps" is not loaded.

My problem is not the setup of Qlandkarte. Under setup=>general=>devices & xfer I don't know which type to select since "etrex 20" is not in the list. So I selected "EtrexClassic" and character set "ISO-8859-1". The field "serial port" was left emtpy.

Trying to access the maps on the SD card (up to now I successfully used the device with Windows Garmin and openstreetmaps)  via "Route => Download" (there are some routes on the device) I get the error message "Failed to download routes. Failed to open serial device". Same problem is for waypoints.

What might be the problem? Do I have to specify a device for "serial port" in the device setup menu?

Thank you.

Best regards,
Chris
