It's the different themes. Some themes are more compact than others. As
touchscreens are a la mode, modern themes tend to make active elements a
bit larger and spend more space between items.

As QLGT is Qt4 you might try to select another theme wit qtconfig. Maybe
it helps. But as far as I remember I never got down to 768 pixel.
