For the latest source from the repository, the old instructions no longer work. I plan to replace the Wiki page after the first release based on VS2017. Sorry that you fell in that trap. I hope that the compile instructions for VS2017 work for you. Wolfgang was already able to reproduce the build based on them. It is some additional effort to set up the new environment. But I think that in the end it will pay off as we no can use the latest Qt and gdal libraries. With the new set up we get now even the MBTiles map format working based on gdal.
