That was it.  Thanks a bunch!  When I upgraded my qmail-ldap, I also switched 
the RPM that I based it on to the mandrake RPM from Vincent Danen
<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, which sets ulimit to 3200000.

I remove the ulimit and it works fine.

Any suggestion what would make a good ulimit to run clamav?
