Btw. qmail-ldaplookup does almost the same checks as qmail-lspawn, so you can use qmail-ldaplookup to find out which field is mandatory. Absolutly necessary is only "mail" all others can be set by defaults file in ~control or make the entry more powerful. Acctually if you only set "mail" you also need a "mailForwardingAddress", this is the simplest entry and is a forward-only account. For a local account with pop/imap access following attributes need to be set: mail, mailmessagestore (or homedirectory), uid, userpassword.
