For example, if you have two domains, example.com and example.net, you can have qmail-ldap rewrite example.net to example.com transparently. You don't need any external shell scripting or extra mailAlternateAddress attributes on all of your users. You do not need to compile qmail-ldap with or enable RCPT TO: checking in order to use domain translations.
