I know this is off topic, but I just thought I would see if anyone is
having the same problems with McAfee's Virus scanner.

I have been running v4.14.0 (4.1.40) of the engine for about a year now
and it runs without a problem. Whenever I try to upgrade to the newer
version of the engine v4.16.0 (4.1.60) it seems to use all the resources
of the box, (the cpu maxes out, memory usage approx. doubles). It takes
alot longer to process messages and as such the concurrent smtp
connections all get tied up due to virus scanning. The machine is a
733MHz Pentium III with 512MB RAM, 3 * SCSI disks, and 2 * 100MB FDX
NICs. Qmail is set up with concurrencyremote = 100

the number of simultaneous SMTP connections are:
internal NIC: 60
external NIC: 40

softlimit of 30MB

I am also running dnscache on the box with a CACHESIZE of 100MB.

The OS is Redhat 6.2, qmail-scanner 1.12.

Nothing obvious in the log's.

My suspicion is that it is a CPU issue, but what CPU size is sufficient
for the task? I tried talking to the McAfee support people, but they
were no help, (they wouldn't even give me a minimum machine spec for
their software). The server handles about 30k messages per day. Has
anyone else had similar issues with this?

Thanks,

Ryan
