I am running Linux and I am removing sendmail because of
the recurring security problems with it.

I am finding the installation of qmail however a little
difficult because of the complex interplay between a
large variety of programs. I do not want to install using
the rpms.

The questions I have are:

1. assuming that I want a basic setup and don't want to
use inetd which programs other than qmail and ucspi-tcp are
required to be installed? What about daemontools and functions?
Why do I need these?

2. what is qmail-smtp as opposed to qmail? What are the sendmail
equivalents if any. For sendmail there is only the sendmail binary
which acts as both transport and server.

3. assuming I want a simple basic setup, is there an easy todo
list that someone can refer me to? I don't have a lot of time
to look into the many programs (i.e., functions, daemontools, etc).

Thanks in advance,

Mark
