Hi Guys (and Gals),

I could really do with some help at the moment. I am trying to configure
email for 5,000 users using Linux on Intel systems.

I don't know how well qmail (or the equipment) will scale so any
reccommendations for optimal performance will be appreciated.

Should I be using a seperate machine for POP3 and outgoing SMTP?

Should I use a db for usernames and passwords rather than looking them up in
a 5,000 lines long /etc/passwd file?

How much disk space is it advisable to make available to 5,000 users? What
steps can I take to enforce this? How should the disks/partitions be best
arranged?

Any advice on mail operation at these levels would be greatly appreciated?

Have a Good '99.

Andy
