RH 6.0 compile problem...

not sure if I am missing a lib or something, but when I type:
#make setup check
linux responds:
./compile qmail-local.c
qmail-local.c:1: sys/types.h: No such file or directory
qmail-local.c:2: sys/stat.h: No such file or directory
make: *** [qmail-local.o] Error 1


any ideas?
