Both as root and a user:

bbs:/var/qmail/bin$ ./qmail-getpw root

Password:
bbs:/var/qmail/bin# ./qmail-getpw root

># su - alias
>$ cat .qmail-root

bbs:/var/qmail/alias# cat .qmail-root
&[EMAIL PROTECTED]
bbs:/var/qmail/alias#

No, which upon rereading the docs is a fundamental error for which I apologize.

After correcting the error and performing a reboot, the issue appears to be
resolved. A test to both [EMAIL PROTECTED] and [EMAIL PROTECTED]
were delivered satisfactorily, and a test to [EMAIL PROTECTED] was
bounced as not existing (which is correct).

Yalls assistance is most assuredly appreciated. Hopefully I won't make too
big a fool of myself again. =)
