Hello,
I've set up a qmail server following the directions
in LWQ.
Everything works fine, except right after a reboot.
qmail refuses
connections with the message:

451 qq temporary problem (#4.3.0)

The funny thing is, if I stop and restart qmail,
everything works
absolutely fine. I don't have to reboot very often,
but if I ever had to,
it'd be nice to know that it would come up correctly
without a
restart of qmail. I even tried stopping and starting
it from
/etc/rc.d/rc.local after it has come up from the
normal startup
script, and that still doesn't fix the problem.

A little info about my system:

-P75 w/24MB
-Red Hat 6.1
-I've tried 2.2.12 stock Red Hat, 2.2.15 vanilla
w/openwall patch,
and and 2.2.16 vanilla w/openwall patch. It happens
with all
kernels.

qmail info:
--------------
-qmail-1.03
-applied large MX record patch
-applied qmail-queue patch
-installed qmail-qfilter
-I am currently using 2 perl scripts for filters, the
default "deny-
filetypes" filter that comes with qmail-qfilter, and
one I wrote myself
for filtering by the From line. They both work great
from the
command line and return 0 for the return code. The
even work fine
after I restart qmail.

One more thing, I just tried disabling the QMAILQUEUE
by
removing the entry in /etc/tcp.smtp (and reloading
tcp.smtp.cdb).
It works fine after I do that, even without restarting
q-mail. If I put
the QMAILQUEUE entry back in, it will stop working
again.

I realize this has to be something to do with either
the
QMAILQUEUE patch (doubtful), my perl script (more
likely), or
something I've done with the system when I was locking
it down ( I
started by applying the Bastille hardening script).
What I find really
strange is that it all works fine after restarting
qmail. I've checked
that startup logs for errors, and I can't find any.

Has anyone ever experienced this? Any suggestions?
This is just
one of those things that I'd like to know why it's
happening. I have
a work around, so it's not holding anything up.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide,
Steve

P.S. Please let me know if I can provide more
information for you.

messages.
---That's NOTHING!! If you play it forwards, it will install windoze NT!!!!!
