What Charles meant was (in my understanding) that people needed to know
what your configuration is along with details of what you did in the
'open-relay' test. That way, the experts here can judge if your test was
really proving your being an open-relay. For instance, the snippet of your
test:
>>> MAIL FROM:<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
<<< 250 ok
>>> RCPT TO:<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
<<< 250 ok
>>> DATA
<<< 354 go ahead
>>> (message body)
<<< 250 ok 984601860 qp 25826
only shows that your mail server accepts the mail addressed to its user.
Well, AFAIK that is what your mail server supposed to do, isn't it? To test
an open-relay mail server you should send a mail to an address which is not
in the server's domain.
