Unfortunately, this is completely incorrect for this situation.
qmail-pop3d only understands Maildir format mailboxes, and the original
poster is apparently asking about mbox-format mailboxes.
There are other solutions (qpopper et al) listed at qmail.org and in
"Life with qmail".
