What problem are you trying to solve exactly?  Are you running out of
concurrencyremote and don't have sufficient resources to increase that
value?

A bunch of loitering qmail-remotes consume very few system resources
so you may be worrying about a non-problem.

I believe the RFC suggests such long time periods. I agree that they
are very high. But, before changing this value, are you sure that's
the reason that the qmail-remotes are taking so long? What if the
Internet connection is really congested and it's taking a long time to
send the contents? In the case, changing the timeout will do nothing
for you.
